Beer Pairing
Comfort and Spice was born out of necessity. Winter was approaching in Pittsburgh and food trucks are hard for breweries to find. I wanted something hot and good that I didn’t have to go stand out in the cold to get. That was the genesis of this project.
Comfort and Spice is me Toby Vann. I am a cook and culinary enthusiast. My M.O. is to make food that pairs well with beer. I work with a new menu for 10 to 12 week seasonal runs. Fall 2024 is my third season. I was honered to be named one of the 25 best Restaurants in Pittsburgh by Pittsburgh Magazine (Spring 2024, best micro kitchen).
The food is a mix of cheesy comfort and spicy international. Everything but the cheese is house made including the sauces and ketchup. I’m constantly tinkering to create a flavor and texture balance in each bite that pairs seamlessly with a specific beer style.
The food is always evolving and is never precious.
